TopikFly is a free study companion for the EPS-TOPIK exam. Most of it works with no account and no connection at all — this policy explains the little that does leave your device, and when.
TopikFly is the controller responsible for the data described in this policy. For any question, request, or concern about your data, contact topikfly.support@gmail.com — the same address Contact Us in the app's Settings sends you to.
Your quiz progress, question bank, exam date, and app settings are stored only on your device (in local browser or app storage). We don't see or collect this data, and it never leaves your device unless you use the community feature below.
The community feature is optional and requires signing in — with Google, email and password, or as an anonymous guest. If you sign in, we store:
Leaderboards are off unless you turn them on in Settings → Profile. Until you do, your name and progress are not listed for other learners.
Who can see what you upload. Study notes, hosted-exam media, and certificate images are stored in Firebase Storage and can be opened by any signed-in TopikFly user who has the file's link. They are not published on the open web, but they are not private to you or to admins either. Please don't upload anything you wouldn't want another learner to see — and crop or cover any part of a certificate you'd rather not share.
This data is stored using Firebase (a Google service): Authentication, Firestore, and Storage.
Why we process it. Signing up and using the community feature you asked for is performance of a contract; leaderboards, a certificate upload, and a referral code are based on your consent; keeping the community safe from spam and abuse is our legitimate interest. Where something relies on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time — turn leaderboards off in Settings → Profile, or delete your account for the rest — without affecting anything done before you withdrew it.
TopikFly has no ads and no third-party analytics or ad-tracking SDKs, and it doesn't use cookies or similar tracking technology. We don't sell your data.
Google is the only third party involved, through two Firebase services:
Google acts as our data processor for both, under Google Cloud's standard data processing terms. See Google's Privacy Policy for how these services handle data.
Firebase runs on Google Cloud infrastructure, which may process and store your data outside your own country — including outside the EU, EEA, or UK, for example in the United States. Where that happens, Google applies safeguards recognised under GDPR, such as Standard Contractual Clauses and its adherence to the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. When you scan a printed question with the camera, the image is read on your device and is never uploaded — text recognition runs locally, and the temporary file is deleted immediately after. Study reminders are scheduled on the device itself, which is why the app asks for notification permission; no push service is involved, no device token is collected, and declining the prompt only means you get no reminder.
Community data is kept while your account exists. Delete your account and it is removed, other than posts and answers others have replied to, which are anonymised so existing discussions stay readable. On-device data lives only on your device and goes when you uninstall or clear the app.

TopikFly does not use automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you.
To exercise any of these, email topikfly.support@gmail.com or use Contact Us in Settings. If you're in the EU, EEA, or UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
You can use TopikFly's quiz and practice features without ever signing in. You can delete your community account at any time in the app under Profile → Delete account, which removes your profile, posts and notes straight away. You can also request deletion of your account and all data attached to it by emailing topikfly.support@gmail.com, or use Contact Us in the app's Settings. Deletion requests are actioned within 30 days.
TopikFly is intended for adult migrant workers preparing for the EPS-TOPIK exam and is not directed at children. If you're in the EU, EEA, or UK you must be at least 16 to use the community feature and consent to this policy; everywhere else the minimum is 13. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger than that, and we'll delete it if we learn that we have.
We may update this policy from time to time; changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.
